Machine Applique
Start: 19 Nov 2010 01:00 PM
End: 19 Nov 2010 04:00 PM
Cost: $30 includes kit with fabric and all supplies needed to make sample projects using each method.
In the class you will learn two methods of machine appliqué:
-
mock needle-turn appliqué
-
fusible thread appliqué
Rather than make a big project, we will just focus on learning the technique as we make a small sample using each method. Once you understand the technique, you’ll be able to apply what you’ve learned to any applique project.
We’ll make the Flower Block pictured below using the mock needle turn method. The class price includes a kit with all the supplies needed to make the block along with bobbins wound with the necessary threads. If you choose, you can use the block in a quilt or finish it to be a small wall hanging or pillow front.
For the fusible appliqué portion of the class, we will make a small Needle Case. Again, the class price includes all the supplies needed to make the block along with a bobbin wound with the fusible thread.
BRING TO CLASS:
Sewing machine with 1/4" foot and open-toe embroidery foot
Black thread for assembling the Needle Case and various colors of threads for finishing the raw edges on the fused shaped.
