We'd like to introduce you to the newest (and smallest!) member of the ByAnnie.com Team.
If you saw Gloria at Fall Market/Festival or spoke with Annie over the last nine months you probably have heard that we have been expecting a new addition to our team.
Liam Unrein Benito finally joined us on April 14th at 5:30 am, making Casey and Gloria parents, Annie a grandmother, and the ByAnnie.com Team uncles and aunts.
Liam came in at a strong fighting weight of 8.2 lbs and with a long reach on his 1 foot 8.5 inch frame. We doubt he will be picking up boxes of ByAnnie's Soft and Stable any time soon, but he will be the inspiration for many patterns and a joy to have around the warehouse from time to time.
We'd like to be the first to wish Gloria (and all of the other mothers out there) a Happy Mother's Day! We know that Glo is going to be a terrific mother and wish her all the best as she embarks on this wonderful journey called motherhood.
Since Glo came to work with us last summer, we have appreciated her outgoing spirit and dedication to learning. It can sometimes be a bit difficult to learn all the ins and outs of this job. We cannot imagine doing it in a second language!
When we found out that Glo was pregnant, we were elated. Annie couldn’t wait to be a grandma, Casey and Glo were excited (and nervous!) to be first-time parents, and the ByAnnie Team couldn’t wait to kiss those cheeks and spoil the littlest member of the team.
Annie especially enjoyed traveling to Spain in December on her first European trip to visit Glo’s family and homeland. They never stopped exploring! Annie recorded thousands of steps every day and made it a goal to learn the names of all of Glo’s family members – which she did to their surprise.
Annie was especially impressed at how busy Glo’s life is in Spain. Since her parents live on a street corner smack-dab in the middle of town, people are constantly in and out stopping to say hello or share a smile. If the window is open, they even stop at the window to talk as they walk by!
We have especially appreciated all that Glo has sacrificed to come here and make a difference in all of our lives. We can’t wait until she returns (with little Liam!) as we have missed her! We've missed Casey, too, but it's May and Mother's Day, so Glo gets the spotlight this month.
All of this is to say that we appreciate mothers. To all of you moms, grandmas, aunts, teachers, or those who have love for many children in their heart, we honor you. Thank you for being you. It’s you who raise the next generation of amazing individuals. May we keep inspiring creativity, initiative, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in the hearts of those around us.
As many of you may have seen, there is a new fun project floating around Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and blogs. It's called the 1 Hour Basket and the baskets truly can be made in one hour.
The project calls for minimal fabric, is a cinch to make, and (the best part) it’s free! You can download the pattern from Craftsy here: http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/sewing/home-decor/1-hour-basket-tutorial/136408
The pattern calls for generic interfacing, but many people have been using Soft and Stable and tagging us, and the results have been stunning! Take a look for yourself.
To see more inspiration, type in #hourbasket on Instagram. Don’t forget to hashtag us with #softandstable and #patternsbyannie to show us what you are working on.
We would love to see your baskets — or any other projects that you make using Soft and Stable and/or our patterns and supplies!
