Introducing: In the Mix

Are you ready to keep your kitchen mixer dust-free and clean with its own custom quilted cover? I know we are. Say ‘hello’ to our new pattern, In the Mix, and get ready to sew something delicious!

Learn more about this great new pattern by watching the An Introduction video, below. For an even more in-depth look at In the Mix, check out our A Closer Look video.

In the Mix does more than just cover your mixer. It has pockets on all sides to hold manuals, accessories, recipes, and more. A handle at the top makes it easy to remove the cover.

The pattern includes complete instructions for covers in three sizes to fit popular mixers. The pattern and Add-on Video include instructions for measuring your mixer and making adjustments if needed.

Fill those pockets!

At ByAnnie.com, we love pockets, and when we were designing In the Mix there's no exception! The mixer cover has:

  • 1 zipper pocket on the front
  • 1 zipper pocket on one side
  • 2 quilted slip pockets on the other side
  • 2 mesh pockets on the side
  • 1 slip pocket on the back

These pockets are great for holding a variety of items. Whether you need somewhere convenient to slip a manual, small cookbook, your favorite dessert recipe, a spatula, or your mixer paddle, there’s a pocket for you.

Three sizes… or make it your way!

We want your mixer cover to fit just right, so we included instructions for three standards sizes to choose from within the pattern. There are also instructions for measuring your mixer and making any needed adjustments.

The standard sizes included are:

    SMALL: 12¾"H x 9"W x 13½"D

(fits smaller tilt-head stand mixers such as KitchenAid Artisan®️ Mini 3.5 qt)

    MEDIUM: 14¼"H x 9"W x 14"D

(fits tilt-head mixers such as KitchenAid Artisan®️ 5 qt)

    LARGE: 16½"H x 12"W x 14½"D

(fits larger bowl-lift stand mixers such as KitchenAid Pro®️ and Commercial®️ 6 qt)

Using directional fabrics.

If you’re planning to use directional fabrics when sewing In the Mix, we recommend watching out Using Directional Fabrics video to make sure your directional fabrics don’t end up upside-down on your finished project!

The main body of In the Mix is primarily one continuous piece of quilted fabric. To use a directional fabric design you will have to take a couple of extra (easy) steps to ensure your fabric design isn’t upside down on one side.

If you’re not using directional fabrics, then no extra steps are needed.

Watch and learn.

We recommend watching the Add-on Video™ before you start sewing, to get a good grasp on what you’re about to begin. The Add-on Video™ can be especially helpful to watch before attending an In the Mix class at your local quilt shop. That way you can be sure to have all your project pieces ready to go before class.

Your paper pattern will come with a coupon code of $5 value that will give you access to the In the Mix Add-on Video. Just add the Add-on Video™ to your cart, plug in the code that comes with your paper pattern, check-out, and watch the video over and over in your digital library. You will need to wait for your paper pattern to arrive in the mail to get your coupon.

The Add-on Video™ is not a start-to-finish tutorial, but a supplemental video that will walk you through the more unique/challenging parts of the pattern. This video series will help you with these steps:

  • Introduction
  • Overview and Special Considerations
  • Determine Size
  • Attach Side Strip to Cover Front
  • Bind Bottom of Cover

Conclusion.

Thank you so much for your interest in our patterns. We wouldn’t be where we are today without makers like you. Be sure to check out our ByAnnie Photo Contest and follow us on social media at @PatternsByAnnie to gather inspiration for your next big make. Let us know in the comments what you're working on!

----Happy Stitching!
