ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Mj H.

ABOUT: Mj sewed this stylish MJ's Messenger Bag pattern.

THEIR STORY: “I have made numerous ByAnnie bags, and even taught a group of friends to make the Ultimate Travel Bag.

My husband is so encouraging of my love of sewing, making quilts and bags. I wanted to make him something special and contacted by Annie. The nice customer service rep walked me through ideas, questions and solutions.

The bag is super sturdy with ByAnnie zippers, mesh pocket, strong strapping, & ByAnnie hardware.

The bag was so sturdy I had to enlist a friend to let me use her industrial machine to sew some seams!

My husband is a musician and loves the results. His bag holds his iPad, extra strings, pics and all the essentials for a gig. Thank you so much!!"

WHAT WE LOVED: One of our ByAnnie team members said, "I love [this bag] because shows more variety to what people make. It's for a man to use everyday! Pretty cool, if I say so. Plus look how great quality it is." We can't agree more!

WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Storyteller Award

WINNER: Leanne M.

ABOUT: Leanne shared her fabric-sourcing adventure that has a bit of an Irish flair! We love how her Clam Up pouches turned out and we look forward to seeing many more of her fun projects.

THEIR STORY: “I have been fortunate to travel to Ireland a couple of times a year (minus 2020). Beginning with that first trip in 2012, I wanted to locate Irish linen on a bolt. It isn’t as easy as one would think. Fast forward a few months, and via social media, I reached out to an Irish textile artist for some help.

Fast forward again, and with her help, we located one of the last Irish Linen manufacturers a few years back. I still remember that first trip to the mill and shop. We found baskets full of seconds and with a conversation, we discovered we could buy linen on a bolt. Even better, we could buy large bags of scraps for only $30. We left that day with a ‘boot’ full of linen.

I still smile at the random laughter that occurred as we drove through the Mourne Mountains that afternoon... pure glee as we felt that we had won the linen lottery. Since finding the Clam Up pattern, I have used many linen scraps to create sets for gifts. This is one of my favorite sets in natural linen with shamrock sprigs."

WHAT WE LOVED: We loved that Leanne's story took us on a mini fabric adventure, all the way to Ireland. We hope that travel is a bit safer this year, and that you can make many more fabric journeys in the future, Leanne.

Quilt Shop Highlight

WINNER: Sarah G. of The Stitchery Dorset

THEIR STORY: "After looking at several of your patterns through one of our suppliers I thought [Catch All Caddy 2.0] would make a good project to feature on an Episode of "Hochanda" the British based TV crafting channel.

I selected some of the fabrics that we sell through our online shop www.thestitcherydorset.co.uk and made the bag up over several nights of watching your tutorials for some of the sewing that I was undertaking for the first time (Quilting)."

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Nathalie F.

ABOUT: We're so impressed with Nathalie's musical Project Bag!

THEIR STORY: “I wanted to make the Project Bag 2.0 for three granddaughters for Christmas, however, I was unsure what size, what color they would like, what would be best purpose for them. Once I walked in local quilt shop I knew this fabric was for all three as they all play the cello. I then wanted to make the jumbo to show more of the fabric and hold their music. I loved making them and then loved watching the excitement.

This was my first ByAnnie project even though I have bought patterns and fabrics for a few other things. I will definitely be making more of this bag and won’t be so hesitant to make the other patterns.

I purchased the zipper by the yard and was amazed how easy it was. The directions and videos were wonderful! Thank you ByAnnie!"

WHAT STOOD OUT: One of our team members saw Nathalie's photo and said, "I loved that she was finally trying a pattern and is ready to try more. The setting with the cello is very nice."

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Olivia Y.

ABOUT: Olivia took on a challenge by making her first zippered bag. She made a great choice with our Easy Does It pattern!

THEIR STORY: "My mom and sisters love Riflepaper Co. and I wanted to make each person their own bag for Christmas. This was my first time making a zippered bag of this size and complexity - and I loved how thorough the instructions and video tutorial were to walk me through each step! I feel like I learned so many sewing techniques from this project! This was also my first time working with soft and stable and I love how easy it is to work with!!"

WHAT STOOD OUT: "I love how she organized her Easy Does It bags on those steps. And of course, I love Rifle Paper Co. fabric so that was just the icing on the cake!" was what one ByAnnie team member said about Olivia's lovely photo. I guess her mother and sisters aren't the only ones in love with Riflepaper Co.!

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Sariah B.

ABOUT: Sariah may not have used one of our patterns, but she did use some of our products for a beautiful result!

THEIR STORY: “First off, I’ll address the elephant in the room. This isn’t a ByAnnie bag pattern. I know right!? Shame on me! ...just kidding.

Although I didn’t use a ByAnnie pattern, I did use her amazing Soft and Stable! I make these zipper pouches frequently to use as gifts, and after my recent discovery of Soft and Stable, I wanted to experiment using that instead of quilt batting. I wondered if the Soft and Stable would be too stiff for the bag but they don’t call it Soft and Stable for nothing because it worked out just fine! Quilt batting works okay, but I really liked the stability of the Soft and Stable.

I also used a ByAnnie zipper instead of a Coats and Clark zipper. I loved the ByAnnie zipper because the zipper tape is wider and it covered up my ugly inside seams which was really nice! It made the bags look much more professional.

I was very pleased with how this zipper pouch turned out using ByAnnie products!"

WHAT STOOD OUT: One of our team members saw Sariah's project and said, "Sariah might not have used a ByAnnie pattern, but I love that she used our Soft and Stable and zippers, it turned out beautifully! She should try our Quick Zip Cases pattern and compare the two... I'd love to hear her thoughts!"

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Shana W.

ABOUT: Shana made an incredible Every Day Every Way diaper bag using Tula Pink fabrics.

THEIR STORY: “I needed a new diaper bag for for my daughter, and had been on the lookout for a pattern that was bigger than the Bowl Me Over that I was currently using, and smaller than the Ultimate Travel Bag. This seemed the perfect size.

I had been saving my Mineral bundle from Tula's True Colors line, waiting for the perfect pattern. When the Linework came out, and I saw the Lil' Stinker print, I knew EXACTLY how it was going to be used.

Then, I envisioned the exterior with the striking black against a mineral rainbow, and got started. Then Tula released the patch, and I knew exactly where it was going, because this girl does not go halvesies on a good joke.

I absolutely LOVE how this came out. I used green accents for this one, and already plan a pink accented version soon."

WHAT STOOD OUT: Our staff loved the bag and background. "The landscape looks awesome in Shana's pic," is what one team member said. The background manages to be beautiful without distracting from how awesome the bag turned out.
