December 2018 Monthly Photo Contest
One of our favorite things at ByAnnie is getting to see all the beautiful things our customers make using our patterns and products. We love hearing your stories, opinions, and feedback and want to encourage more people to share through our monthly photo contest. Oh, and did we mention you could have a chance to win prizes for all your hard work and creativity?
Grand Prize winners receive a $50 coupon and runners up receive $10 coupons to be used at ByAnnie.com USA! Check out our rules and submission guidelines by clicking the button below!
Since the launch of our monthly photo contest, we've received hundreds of photos of absolutely amazing projects! It's been hard to narrow it down, but the winners below were chosen because the quality of their photographs really let their projects shine.
For the photo contest we are looking for clear, large-sized images. We like to see projects that are well lit and centered nicely in the frame. If possible, we also enjoy seeing multiple angles of a project, or images where we can see how the project will be used. Last, but not least, great photos should also have a clean and clutter-free background. For more tips on how to take great photos, read our blog titled How To Photograph Your Project.
We'd like to congratulate all the winners below! We hope you enjoy reading a bit about their projects. For additional pictures and full stories, be sure to check out our WINNER'S GALLERY!
Grand Prize Winner
Maker: Angie K.
Pattern: Multitasking Messenger (also know as MJ's Messenger Bag)
Fabric: Grey twill, black duck canvas, and red duck canvas from JoAnn Fabric. Oklahoma University quilting cotton by Sykel Enterprises.
Story: When my nephew graduated from high school last spring, I knew I wanted to give him something that was both meaningful and functional. So when I found the Craftsy class for the Multitasking Messenger Bag, I knew I'd found the perfect project. Without the quilting, and by using twill and canvas rather than quilting cotton, the bag had a very masculine feel.
I thoroughly enjoy working with ByAnnie patterns. This is my third make, and each one gets easier (and better looking) the more practice I get with the techniques.

Maker: Constanza M.
Pattern: Catch All Caddy
Fabric: I pieced together everything i had
Story: Love this pattern! It is really user friendly as all ByAnnie patterns are. My sewing room was starting to look messy now that I am learning to paint with watercolor, because I do not have more space to store the new supplies. This bag will help me organize everything.
It was a little difficult to sew around the corners at the final stage, due to the bulk, but honestly it is not terrible.
By the way, everyone likes it and now my mom wants one too. I have already received the finishing kit in the mail!

Maker: Kaitlin W.
Pattern: Back At Ya 2.0
Fabric: Smitten by Bonnie & Camille for Moda Fabrics
Story: I really enjoyed making this bag! I love all of Annie’s patterns but this one was especially fun to put together because of the pockets and curved flap.
I did struggle with the straps just a little bit, but I was able to watch one of Annie’s videos to figure it out!
I made this bag especially to take to Quilt Market in November.

Maker: Karen E.
Pattern: Ultimate Travel Bag
Fabric: Seattle by Gail Cadden for Timeless Treasures, Morning Coffee - Espresso Coffee Beans by Lorilynn Simms for Wilmington Prints
Story: I made this bag for my son’s girlfriend who is a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines. She lives in Seattle and I thought it would be fun to have a travel bag representing her city.
I have discovered that free motion quilting is a blast. It isn’t as tough as one might think. My suggestion is to give it a try. Practice on scraps of fabric first. You will surprise yourself. Free motion quilting is one of my favorite parts of making the bag.
I am thrilled with the way this bag turned out. It is a big hit with her flight attendant colleagues.

Maker: Kristy S.
Pattern: Every Day Every Way
Fabric: De La Luna by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics
Story: The number of pieces for this pattern was quite daunting in the beginning, but It was so much fun to watch the bag come together. I love bound interiors and the structure it creates, so this bag is now one of my favorites!

Maker: Vicki T.
Pattern: Ultimate Travel Bag
Fabric: Majestic Eagles, Eagle Feathers by Quilting Treasures, Woodland Nature Plaid from Timeless Treasures, Mountain Green by Riley Blake
Story: I made the Ultimate Travel Bag for my husband for Christmas and he loved it. I used the left over quilted pieces to make a small mesh dirty clothes bag, cosmetic bag, and two bitty bags for headphones, etc.
My husband was clueless, even when we stopped by the St. George ByAnnie warehouse to pick up supplies. He kept asking the gal about “guy” bags. He still was clueless and everyone had a hard time believing I had made it (even myself). It looks so nice!
