Michael Miller Christmas 2022

We are celebrating winter and the holidays in style using fun seasonal fabrics from Michael Miller fabrics.

For our projects, we combined fabrics from a variety of lines, choosing an assortment of fabrics in traditional Christmas colors as well as some more "wintry' colors with designs featuring ice skating and other seasonal motifs.

They'll be perfect for decorating all winter long!

LIVE WITH ANNIE

In addition to putting a beautiful blog post together (see below), we also filmed a Live with Annie episode showing off these great projects and fabrics. See that video here and the great images and blog further down.

CONTAIN YOURSELF

We were delighted by the variety of fabrics in this seasonal lineup and chose fun Gnomes, Vintage Christmas, and Most Wonderful Time of the Year prints to make soft-sided bins using our pattern Contain Yourself.

We made a medium-sized bin using the cute gnome fabric with the Snowy Red print.

To accompany that bin, we made two smaller baskets using the green Holiday Plaid from the Vintage Christmas line combined with the Snowy Green print. To mix things up, we alternated the fabrics on the two baskets, using the plaid as the main fabric on one basket and as the lining on the other.

These handy little containers will be perfect for holding Christmas cards, small gifts, ornaments, or treats all season long!

In addition to the small and medium bins shown, the Contain Yourself pattern also includes complete instructions for a large bin that is perfectly sized to fit in IKEA Kallax shelves.

Once you’ve mastered the technique, you may also design your own bins of any size using the handy formulas and tips included in the pattern. You’ll love having custom containers for all your storage needs!

To learn more about Contain Yourself, be sure to check out the An Introduction and A Closer Look videos for the pattern.

ByAnnie's Soft and Stable and Placemats

A hot mug of soup or hot chocolate is perfect after a day of sledding or ice skating on a cold winter day.

And when we saw the fun winter-themed fabrics in Jane Dixon's line Most Wonderful Time of the Year, we knew just what to make — placemats! Sturdy mats made with these fun fabrics and Soft and Stable will brighten the room while protecting the table.

We combined fabrics from Most Wonderful Time of the Year with fun black and white prints from Graydations to make a set of six sturdy, washable placemats using a variety of ByAnnie patterns. Each pattern features a modified quilt-as-you-go technique and fold-over self binding, so assembly is really quick and easy.

ByAnnie's Soft and Stable is a firm but resilient sew-in foam stabilizer that gives the mats great body and stability, makes assembly extra easy, and ensures that they'll look great even after repeated launderings.

We made this set of mats using our Easy Flip and Sew pattern. The focus fabric is perfect for the larger pieces and a variety of coordinating prints add a fun pieced border across the bottom or down the side.

The set below (left) was made using our Simple Strips pattern. The pattern includes instructions for two styles of mat. One features a focus fabric in the center, bordered by pieced strips on each side. The other showcases a variety of staggered strips and is perfect for using a variety of 2.5" strips.

Another great pattern for using 2.5" strips is our Set A Pretty Table pattern which we used to make the other set below (right). Just 22 strips (2.5" x 42"), 1 yard of backing fabric, and a 1/2 yard package of Soft and Stable are all you need to make FOUR mats.
