Introducing Tidy Time!

The Tidy Time pattern provides instructions for two projects, each with three sizes!

MINI MAT

Simple mats in three sizes are perfect for holding a mug of your favorite beverage, a tasty snack, or to protect a surface.

Finished Sizes:

  • Small - 5"H x 5"W
  • Medium - 5"H x 6½"W
  • Large - 5"H x 8¼"W

TRINKET TRAY

Use this trio of little trays to hold all sorts of small treasures — from snacks to sewing supplies!

Finished Sizes:

  • Small - 1¼"H x 2½"W x 2½"D
  • Medium - 1¼"H x 4"W x 2½"D
  • Large - ¼"H x 5¾"W x 2½"D

The Soft and Stable included in the pattern package is enough to make three mats or three trays or a combination of the two.

Tidy Time is part of our Jump Starters series of patterns, which are designed to spark your creativity through fast, fun, and useful projects.

Beginners will enjoy learning new skills, and seasoned sewists will love experiencing success and jump starting their creativity as they make these quick projects.

To get you started, each Jump Starters pattern includes the pattern, three pieces of Soft and Stable, and a full-length Add-on Video.

Inspiration from pattern testers

Our pattern testers made some lovely examples of Tidy Time, and have already found some great uses for these handy mats and trays! We really appreciate all they do to help us.

Jennifer (Instagram: @taughtbymomquilts) used Tula Pink’s Untamed and True Colors lines to make this pretty Tidy Time set. She did a beautiful job of fussy-cutting the flowers to feature on both the mat and the tray.

These lovely projects will be handy for organizing small items in Jennifer’s sewing room and on her desk as they brighten even the grayest day!

Cindy made a lovely set of Tidy Time mats using Flower Show II by Benartex. She plans to use them as coasters and mug rugs.

Randi (Instagram: @randisroost) is all set for tea time, with a Tidy Time set made with Into the Woods by Katrinka for FreeSpirit Fabrics. To give a more uniform look, Randi decided to use the same fabric for all parts of the project.

She made a second set (below) using Tula Pink’s True Colors. Her daughters commandeered them immediately for snack time!

Nyree found some pretty batik fabric in her stash to make her Tidy Time.

The Trinket Tray is already doing a great job of taming Nyree’s Wonder Clips right on the bed of her machine.

Kristen (Instagram: @stitchfabriccompany) made this adorable tray using Citrus by Kaffe Fassett. It's perfect for holding extra zipper slides! And she did a great job fussy cutting the fabrics for her Mini Mat using Tula Pink’s Roar.

Kim found some cool pirate fabric in her stash to make her Tidy Time set.

Jan made her beautiful mat and trays using Up Up and Away by Sue Penn, and they have already been put to excellent use in Jan’s sewing room!

We hope you have been inspired to grab your favorite fabrics and make your own Tidy Time set. We’re sure you will find them quick and easy to make — and useful in any room of the home.

We've filmed an Add-on Video that walks you through all the steps to make both projects. And, the pattern comes with a coupon code that makes these Add-on Videos FREE!

Happy stitching!
