January 2019 Photo Contest Winners
One of our favorite things at ByAnnie is getting to see all the beautiful things our customers make using our patterns and products. We love hearing your stories, opinions, and feedback and want to encourage more people to share through our monthly photo contest. Oh, and did we mention you could have a chance to win prizes for all your hard work and creativity?
Grand Prize winners receive a $50 coupon and runners up receive $10 coupons to be used at ByAnnie.com USA! Check out our rules and submission guidelines by clicking the button below!
Since the launch of our monthly photo contest, we've received hundreds of photos of absolutely amazing projects! It's been hard to narrow it down, but the winners below were chosen because the quality of their photographs really let their projects shine.
For the photo contest we are looking for clear, large-sized images. We like to see projects that are well lit and centered nicely in the frame. If possible, we also enjoy seeing multiple angles of a project, or images where we can see how the project will be used. Last, but not least, great photos should also have a clean and clutter-free background. For more tips on how to take great photos, read our blog titled How To Photograph Your Project.
We'd like to congratulate all the winners below! We hope you enjoy reading a bit about their projects. For additional pictures and full stories, be sure to check out our WINNER'S GALLERY!
Grand Prize Winner
Name: Karen A.
Pattern: Tatiana Backpack by iThinkSew, using ByAnnie's Soft and Stable.
Fabric: Braidy in Mango by Cotton + Steel Fabrics
Story: This is a small backpack (about 8.5x11) that I made for one of my daughters. I'm happy that I used ByAnnie's Soft and Stable rather because the bag has some nice structure and weight without being too heavy or stiff. I'm pretty new to bag making and this one was a fun make. Working with the leather was a challenge for sure! The pattern called for leather straps for the back, but I decided just to make some using the fabric and some interfacing.

Pattern: Ultimate Travel Bag
Fabric: Seaside by Tasha Noel for Riley Blake Fabrics
Story: This is the second Ultimate Travel Bag I have made. Both bags were gifts. I bought the Craftsy Tutorial and used it while making both bags. I love how professional looking the bag looks when completed. The zipper instructions and interior finish are so easy to perform and look so nice. I intend to make several more of these bags. One for myself next!

Pattern: Round Trip Duffle Bag
Fabric: Tabby Road, Pink Seaglass Tide & Seaglass Sea Blooms by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics; Andover woven green for the handles
Story: During the process of choosing my fabrics I was delighted when all the Free Spirit Tula Pink lines matched. I combined fabrics from the Tabby Road and Zuma collection. Although each fabric line was a different theme I felt they intertwined well.

Runner Up
Maker: Sarah M.
Pattern: Running with Scissors
Fabric: Various quilting cottons and vinyl
Story: I originally made the Running with Scissors in quilting cottons as a sewing tool case and then realized it was the perfect size for my Chromebook (which I take along when we travel as I teach online education classes for the county).
By omitting the inner pockets, the laptop fits perfectly and the outer pockets easily house my mouse and power cord! Sewing vinyl just requires a slower speed, a stiletto and a Teflon foot. Thanks for designing such an awesome pattern!

Pattern: A Place For Everything
Fabric: De La Luna by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics
Story: I rarely make things for myself but really wanted something nice to store some of my stuff in. It was fun quilting my own fabrics together and highlighting the fun parts of Tula’s print with the quilting.
I love doing binding (I know that’s odd and people hate me for it) and there’s a lot binding on this project!

Maker: Kristy S.
Patterns: Running With Scissors and Take A Stand
Fabric: Road Trip by Alison Glass for Andover Fabrics
