ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Jennifer B.

ABOUT: Jennifer sewed two Zip It Up organizers, one for her sister and one for herself!

THEIR STORY: “Every year, my sister and I travel to Sisters, Oregon for the annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show. Due to COVID-19, the show was canceled this year, but we decided to go and have a mini quilt retreat on our own plus some fabulous hiking!

My sister is an oncology nurse practitioner who has been working very long hours due to the pandemic. I decided to surprise her by making us both a Zip It Up organizer, using llama fabric for her organizer and Tula Pink fabric for my organizer. She loves llamas and alpacas, and the Best Western hotel in Sisters just happens to have a herd of alpacas that you can visit. I took the Zip It Up organizers out to the alpacas to get their toothy grin of approval!

I placed the outside zipper compartment on the back of the organizers instead of the front. I learned about the handbag zippers for the first time from this pattern, and I was so happy to add zippers to a project without frustration. These are my first 2 ByAnnie patterns that I've made, and I am addicted! I've already purchased the Running With Scissors pattern to make next."

WHAT WE LOVED: One ByAnnie employee said, "I love having the llama/alpaca fabric on its own, but staging her photos with alpacas is the best thing I've seen all day!" And we have to agree.

Storyteller Award

WINNER: Kena D.

ABOUT: Kena sewed an Ultimate Travel Bag, Back At Ya, Call Me, and Easy Does It... what a colorful group!

THEIR STORY: “I learned so many tips and tricks of the trade by taking Annie's online Bluprint/Craftsy class for the Ultimate Travel Bag. She is an excellent teacher. I learned a new way of sewing in zippers, bias binding, and now I'm completely in love with the Soft and Stable stabilizer. It gives the bags such a smooth and professional looking shape! I love free motion quilting, so I decided to do my own on a 2 yard sandwiched panel. Boy, was that a workout on my home domestic machine, but so worth it because I was able to cut up the left over pieces and use them in other bag projects to create a collection!

I also love working with African fabrics. They are so beautiful and vibrant. My mother's husband is from Ghana and bought these for me from a street market on his last trip home - so I ended up making an additional Bowl Me Over bag for her in kente cloth. She loves it and uses it every day. I just love every single pattern. I'm now an Annie's bag patterns junkie. So far, I've made a variety of bags for retirement gifts, birthdays and mother's day - but THIS collection is all mine!"

WHAT WE LOVED: We love how Kena shared how she experienced the process of making the bags and her connection to the fabric. One ByAnnie team member also said, "I liked Kena's fabric a lot. I like how the colors pop."

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Anna R.

ABOUT: Anna took beautiful photos of the Ultimate Travel Bag and Travel Essentials that she sewed in a custom fabric she had printed.

THEIR STORY: “After being locked down because of Covid-19 for four months and forced to home-school my children I wished to feel some tropical vibes at my own country's seaside (not at all tropical - rather windy and cool).

Not being able to find perfect print on fabric, I bought some digital papers on Etsy, prepared it to be printed on fabric and ordered custom fabric printing. I took all pieces of the bags into consideration while designing the print layout and finished cutting with almost no leftovers!

The sewing was a huge pleasure - as it is with all patterns BY ANNIE."

WHAT STOOD OUT: One of our team members said, "Anna submitted such beautiful photos. I want to relax on the beach with the bag she made, maybe share a drink or two with it."

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Julie T.

ABOUT: Julie sewed two Catch All Caddy organizers in Tula Pink fabric.

THEIR STORY: "I absolutely love making the Catch All Caddy 2.0! The pattern is easy to follow and looks professional when complete. I especially love using Tula Pink fabrics for my bags. These are great gifts to make for friends and family. Happy sewing!"

WHAT STOOD OUT: One ByAnnie team member said, "I really like these two bags. It seems she took a lot of time thinking of the colors and the fabric." We agree!

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Linda S.

ABOUT: Linda sewed this adorable, embroidered hedgehog Clam Up pouch. She also likes to up-cycle, and used jeans from a thrift store for the bottom and back of the pouch.

THEIR STORY: "My friend Julie likes hedgehogs, so when I saw the embroidery pattern for the hedgehog, I knew I had to make it for her. The small Clam Up bag was the perfect size to frame this little fellow. I used denim for the back and bottom of the bag - I used the marks on the pattern to figure out how to piece it. I also pieced the lining fabric so that no hedgehogs are standing on their head."

WHAT STOOD OUT: "Linda's setting really matched the idea of her fabric choice," said one ByAnnie team member. It really does look like it's a little embroidered hedgehog hanging out in the plants.

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Shawna S.

ABOUT: Shawna sewed a Back At Ya 2.1 with some beautiful Shortcake fabric.

THEIR STORY: "I started sewing approximately 1.5 years ago. I made a few baby quilts and pillows, but I quickly became very interested in making bags of all kinds.

When I found the Shortcake fabric, I fell in love with it and knew I wanted to make something special with it. But it had to be used for the perfect project.

When I came across ByAnnie.com and found your patterns and videos, I knew the Back At Ya 2.1 was the project I was looking for.

I was a little intimidated because I had never taken on a project with so many pockets and zippers. Sewing with so many layers and so much bulk made me a little nervous, but I wanted to try.

There was some trial and error, and even though my backpack isn't perfect, I still love how it turned out. I am excited to take on my next project - The Ultimate Travel Bag!"

WHAT STOOD OUT: One ByAnnie team member simply said, "Perfection," when they saw Shawna's photo.

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
