ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Gabriela H.

ABOUT: Gabriela sewed these fun and lovely Nesting Baskets and had some kind words to say.

THEIR STORY: “I just LOVE byAnnie patterns!❤️

Even though I‘m from Switzerland (Swiss German Language) I have absolutely no troubles following the instructions. AND Soft and Stable is an awesome product! Thank you for that!

I am just so happy to have found ByAnnie!!!"

WHAT WE LOVED: We loved Gabriela's enthusiasm and the way she staged her Nesting Baskets. One staff member said, "I love her Nesting Basket set. Great fabric placement and the quilting lines added to the outside are a nice customization."

WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Storyteller Award

WINNER: Cynthia T.

ABOUT: Cynthia shared a photo of the Open Wide bags she sewed for her sister. We loved that she plans to nest the bags inside each other as a fun surprise!

THEIR STORY: "My sister has participated in and judged regional beauty pageants for years, so I thought these Open Wide bags would be just the ticket for her frequent travels. As her birthday was soon approaching, I selected these saturated, purple royalty colors to mix and match the three roomy zippered cases. The Add-on video was excellent, and now my zippers are perfect!

Sis will fly out to visit me next month when I will present her with these quilted treasures. I love that they hide inside one another (my husband calls them "Matryoshka bags" after the Russian stacking dolls), and Sis will be excited to see her new extra large "single" zippered case, only to open it and find two more bags!"

WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Quilt Shop Highlight

WINNER: 35th Ave Sew & Vac

THEIR STORY: This month we didn't have any store submit to the quilt shop highlight award, so we decided to highlight an incredible shop that recently hosted a ByAnnie trunk show and sent in some lovely photos.

Heather of 35th Ave Sew & Vac gave us a little background on the shop. She said, "We're a family-owned and operated business that was started nearly 40 years ago. Originally run from a spare room in their home, the company now has 3 store locations, online sales and an event center.

Stores are located in El Mirage, Chandler and the flagship store in Phoenix, which is housed in what was once a grocery store and is now one of the largest quilt stores in the southwest with over 20,000 bolts of fabric. We're an authorized dealer of Baby Lock, BERNINA, Handi Quilter, Husqvarna Viking, Juki, Pfaff and Elna, with a large service department as well."

If you're in their area, some upcoming events are:

  • Stitching in the Kitchen with OESD - a 2 day, hands-on embroidery event on May 20-21. Registration will include complete kits for 6 kitchen-themed projects.
  • Snow Country Express with Claudia Dinnell - a 3 day hands-on embroidery event on June 2-4, with Claudia Dinnell using her newest design collection.
  • Beyond Monograms - A Free Virtual Embroidery Event with DIME on May 27.
  • The Great Quilting Adventure Virtual Shop Hop - from May 23-28, visiting a different store each evening on Facebook at 6pm CST.

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Beth W.

ABOUT: Beth shared a photo of a Bosom Buddy she sewed.

THEIR STORY: "Annie presented this pattern during breast cancer awareness month. I thought it was a perfect idea, but knew no one that had breast cancer. I printed the pattern and filed it away, hoping to never have to use it. Since then I have had 2 coworkers diagnosed and have made 2 Bosom Buddies. This last one went to one of the physicians I work for this week, as she goes in for her double mastectomy this Friday. It brought tears of joy to her."

Thank you Annie for making a pattern that helps protect the bosoms of those in crisis!"

WHAT WE LOVED: We loved how thoughtful it was of Beth to consider her friends' and coworkers' comfort. We hope she doesn't have to make many more. Breast cancer is something all too real to our staff at ByAnnie and we are glad that Bosom Buddy can help with seatbelt discomfort.

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Francine B.

ABOUT: Francine sewed Easy Does It bags for the retreat participants in her guild.

THEIR STORY: "Our Pieceful quilt guild is going on a retreat in June. Our theme this year is Wonderful Wacky Women.

I have made an Easy Does It bag for each participant (16) which we will also fill with a few items. I.e. thread, pen, change purse and a wacky candy bar etc.

The perfect size of the wacky women pieces from the panel lent itself to this bag. As well as the bags we do raffle prizes and give each person fabric to put a block together.

At the end of the weekend we draw a name and that person goes home with all the blocks. Enough for a quilt to keep as a momentum of our retreat. On our Twenty Anniversary last year we collected all past quilt and put them on display."

WHAT WE LOVED: We love that Francine put so much thought and effort into these bags, and we love that each one is personalized with a panel.

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Jody J.

ABOUT: Jody finished her In The Mix at an in-house three day retreat.

THEIR STORY: “I had been wanting to make the In The Mix pattern for quite a while but knew if I started it I wouldn't want to wait to finish it and I just never seemed to have the uninterrupted time I wanted to work on it.

Well, my local quilt shop scheduled a three day In-House Retreat and I knew this was the perfect opportunity! Plus, I had never used ByAnnie's fold over elastic and thought this was the my chance — believe me when I say it's a game changer.

It was a joy to work on this project surrounded by many other talented ladies and us all working on different projects. Now that my mixer it all taken care of, I'm off to plan my next ByAnnie project."

WHAT WE LOVED: We love that not only did Jody finish a project with her time interrupted, but that she was surrounded by other talented ladies! Annie herself commented, "Her In The Mix cover is so cherry and bright. I love the embroidery that she added on the front and enjoyed her comments about fold-over elastic."

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com
