THEIR STORY: “As we like to travel this is the PERFECT and CUTEST bag to take along - I can make it fit in any shower (hotels/campgrounds). ABOUT: A Round Trip Duffle with a surprise inside.
THEIR STORY: "Turns out, there is no way to make near-naked cowboy-printed fabric tasteful, so inside they went! We love how this bag is sedate and elegant on the outside, yet so..Wow!...on the interior! Inside adapted to two fabric pockets. Trolley pocket adapted with a bottom zipper to be used as a pocket. Pattern is further adapted with a zipper binding to match the interior and back side of the shoulder strap pad. Lastly, the front pocket border is fussy cut and hand embroidered. Hand finished binding. Like all the best projects, this one challenged my abilities and I'm proud of my improvement. I learned how to make fabric pockets, and strap tubes, from a Bowl Me Over; and it's great to take learned skills forward. The best thing about this project, though, is that it started with a Clam Up. My daughter was home visiting, and made her very first Clam Up. She had a blast. So much so, she decided to accompany me on a Southern California Quilt run, where she chose these fabrics (to coordinate with the cowboy fabric I already had) for me to make her a Round Trip Duffle. This duffle will carry her things in future trips, and remind us both of a lovely trip together. "

ABOUT: A Bosom Buddy doing it's job.
THEIR STORY: "Here I am using my Boson Buddy from By Annie Patterns. Who else remembers the fun Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon series? Almost 50 years ago I had Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the young age of 18. I was treated with surgery & lots of radiation, then, sent on my way. To this day, the biopsy surgery site still gets irritated by the seat belt strap! Then, in 2008 I wad diagnosed with breast cancer. This time I had a mastectomy, chemo & an implant and I'm still kicking!! Again, the the seat belt strap was an issue with my port site. So, I was excited to see & use this cushion to help ease the issues with the stupid seat belt strap! This is my 2nd By Annie project completed. Now on to more complicated & bigger By Annie Projects! Thank you By Annie!!!"

ABOUT: Bosom Buddy, Catch All Caddy, Clam Up
THEIR STORY: "I was diagnosed with breast cancer at Christmas 2021. In the late fall of 2019 a mammogram had found a cyst, I had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound and we decided to wait 6 months and see. And then covid happened. In December 2021 I finally returned for a repeat of the diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. My mammogram was fine, the ultrasound showed the cyst and it determined to be a cyst but the ultrasound also showed a shadowy architectural distortion that could not be explained by prior biopsy or injury and I had a swollen lymph node they thought was probably because of a flu shot. Biopsies showed I had breast cancer, later found to be stage 2a.
I made myself a Catch All Caddy from a stack of vintage fat quarters I found at a local quilt guild rummage sale to take to chemo rounds. The drop handles made it easy to reach the contents and the bag fit perfectly on the infusion recliner side tray. The bag was a hit with all the staff. I told everyone how fun it was to make and where to find the pattern. I stocked it with gum, hard candy, my water bottle, tissues, a protein shake, a protein bar, a Bosom Buddy, a Project bag with a cross stitch, my little laptop and knitting etc. My center had a quiet policy and the chairs faced the windows in little cubicles. They had heated chairs and blankets so I left my quilt at home (Pat Sloan’s summer quilt along project).

The Catch All Caddy was very handy while recovering from surgery as well to keep supplies close at hand For radiation treatments I made a set of Clam Ups using a breast cancer awareness fabric I had purchased for a friend and other prints I had in my stash. I added a handle that dropped down like the Catch All Caddy to take my wallet, keys, phone and various creams and lotions to all 33 radiation treatments. The Mini Notebook was tucked in the bag to make lists of questions or concerns for my oncology team. I also made a bunch of orange (for Radiation) Clam Ups in small for all the techs and nurses that did the radiation treatments and gave them to them just before ringing the bell and leaving in remission from cancer. My October PSA: Remember to ask for an ultrasound if your breast tissue is dense. The ultrasound saved my life. A MRI finally showed the tumor. Even though the mass was nearly 1” and near the surface, no one could feel it. Ask about dense tissue!
