ByAnnie Top Voted

WINNER: Joan K

PATTERN: Leader of the Pack

THEIR STORY:  I have been waiting for the perfect project to use the "Nightmare Before Christmas" coffee bags, I've been saving.. When I saw the "Leader of the Pack" pattern, I knew it was perfect.

The coffee bags were appliqued on the front pocket fabric, after cutting out the piece. To my delight with the metallic backing on them, they were tearproof and worked out better than I expected.

The lining with the creepy eyes peering at you makes me laugh every time I open the backpack!

WHAT WE LOVED: Annie had this to say, "I love Joan K's awesome Leader of the Pack made with upcycled Nightmare Before Christmas coffee bags! It is sure to make EVERYONE smile. Those creepy eyes peeking out at you when you open the pocket are perfect!"

WHAT THEY WON: $50 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Storyteller Award

WINNER: Suzi M.

PATTERN: Backseat Babysitter

THEIR STORY: My 11 year old grandson has a condition known as Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC) and uses a motorized wheelchair. He wanted a “bag” so he could use a water bottle and also carry items like his mp3 player. I used the Backseat Babysitter pattern as a model and adapted it to fit his chair. The arms on the chair are only 10” long.

The arms on the chair are only 10” long. I used the middle and bottom section of Backseat Babysitter scaled down. Adjustable slide straps made with webbing worked to attach to his handle. I was quite thankful for the instructions! He loves it and I’m getting ready to start a second one! I love your patterns and your techniques! Thank you ByAnnie!

WHAT WE LOVED: Annie had this to say, "Suzi M did a fabulous job adapting the Backseat Babysitter pattern to make a custom bag for her grandson's wheelchair. He must be over the moon to have such a good-looking AND functional bag."

QE Level Up

WINNER: Samantha S
@SteeleMakes

PATTERN: Bella Quilt Coat, Bella Accent Sleeves, Bella Arcs & Beauties

THEIR STORY:  I had the wonderful opportunity to take the Bella Coat class with Elissa this month at The Sewing Box Quilt Shop, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The pattern is so well written and I love all the option to make your coat fully custom. Elissa made what could be a daunting project feel so simple, and I can’t wait to make another coat!

WHAT WE LOVED: Elissa had this to say, "This month's Quilting Elissa Level-Up Award goes to Samantha S. for her incredible Bella Quilt Coat!

Samantha did a wonderful job bringing her Bella Quilt Coat to life with thoughtful fabric choices and a design that's uniquely her own - she added the Bella Accent Sleeves and Bella Arcs & Beauties FPP Expansion Packs for the finishing touches on her jacket.

The striking combination of vibrant lime green and charcoal provides the perfect backdrop for the foundation paper pieced design. I especially love how she used an ombré of lights and darks in the FPP blocks to create depth and movement, giving the circular design a wonderful sense of dimension.

One of my favorite details is the custom fabric featuring her dog in the center of the back panel. It's such a meaningful personal touch and makes this coat truly one of a kind.

It was such a pleasure having Sam in the Bella Quilt Coat Workshop at The Sewing Box Quilt Shop. Watching her ideas come together throughout the class and seeing the finished coat was incredibly rewarding - not to mention she was a wonderfully supportive to her fellow classmates.

The Level-Up Award celebrates makers who take a pattern and make it their own through creativity, craftsmanship, and personal expression. Samantha's coat is a beautiful example of just that.

Congratulations, Sam! Thank you for sharing your creativity with all of us. I can't wait to see what you make next!"

Quilt Shop Highlight

WINNER: Heather H

PATTERN: Ultimate Travel Bag

THEIR STORY:  I've completed several smaller ByAnnie projects, but I wanted to challenge myself with something more ambitious. The Ultimate Travel Bag immediately caught my attention because of its size, numerous components, and detailed construction techniques. I also felt it was the perfect project to showcase my Tula Pink Graywork fabrics, allowing the striking prints to shine while creating something both beautiful and functional.

At first, the project seemed a little intimidating, but I approached it one step at a time. I began by quilting all of the fabric pieces and then focused on the individual components, including the pockets, straps, and organizational features. Breaking the project into smaller tasks made it much more manageable and allowed me to build confidence as I progressed. By the time I was ready for final assembly, the bag came together more smoothly than I expected.

Completing this project gave me a tremendous sense of accomplishment, and I am proud of the finished result. I look forward to using it on future trips and enjoying the satisfaction of carrying something I created myself.

WINNER: Debi A

PATTERN: Waist Management

THEIR STORY:  I wanted to dress up granddaughter's shorts and It is an amazing scrap buster. I learned on this first one how easy it is and belts are making a comeback.

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Jenifer R

PATTERN: Catch All Caddy, Drop Zone, Easy Does it

THEIR STORY:  In honor of our country's 250th birthday, I made some patriotic bags: The large drop zone; the Easy Does It, modified by moving the zipper to the end and adding a strap--now it's a cross body!; and a slightly modified Catch All Caddy (shorter with strapping for handles)--perfect for toting some picnicware.

By Annie patterns are so fun to make and they turn out so professional looking. Although I LOVE purchasing NEW fabric, I like to purchase used and upcycle whenever I can. Volunteering at our local thrift store (I mostly sort used clothing) has made me aware of this country's problem with textile waste.

WHAT WE LOVED: Our team member Casey had this to say, "Those bags are amazing! I love the patriotic look!"

WHAT THEY WON: $15 coupon to use on ByAnnie.com

Honorable Mention

WINNER: Jennifer C

PATTERN: Two Big Totes, Switchback

THEIR STORY:  Story 1: (Two Big Totes) My sister-in-law, Rosemary was married June 1976 and recently celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary. Her wedding colors reflected the bi-centennial, with Navy, Dark red and of course white. For her gift my husband requested that I make her a 250th Anniversary tote. I used a mix of celebration fabrics to create a large tote for her gift.

Story 2: (Switchback) I created this bag to use for traveling. I had a lot of fun with the fabrics; the only difficulty was deciding which ones to use! lol. I also took the opportunity to stitch stars on the sides of the denim bag in red, I am very happy with how it turned out!

WHAT WE LOVED: Our team members Jacque and Joe had this to say about these bags, "I love the patriotic fabric, especially with the 250th anniversary this year. What a wonderful way to celebrate Americas independence." and "How festive and patriotic. It's a beautiful job and a beautiful bag."
