#SewPINK Bosom Buddy

Final Days of #SewPINK
As the month of October comes to an end, we want to express our thanks to all of the wonderful people who helped support the inauguration of the #SewPINK Initiative.
The blog hop was a total success, and we were empowered every weekday by the projects and words of encouragement from our celebrity guest bloggers. There were many talented people giving helpful tips, offering free patterns and prizes, and raising support and awareness for breast cancer. You'll definitely want to check our blog hop calendar to catch up on any blogs you might have missed.
This month we were able to raise $2,000 to donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Thank you so much for supporting #SewPINK by purchasing any pink items from our online store. This donation will help make a difference in finding a cure.
Every day we offered a $15 digital coupon to our store to members of the sewing community who helped us raise awareness for breast cancer and the #SewPINK Initiative. We were impressed by those who took the time to share a few words or make a project of their own.
Each week we also chose our favorite #SewPINK post to be featured in our newsletter and in our blogs. These Weekly Featured Winners will each be receiving a bundle of fabrics, some patterns from our own #SewPINK projects, and a ByAnnie Stiletto and Pressing Tool™. We hope you enjoy these prizes and we can't wait to see your next creations!

Bosom Buddy Inspiration
Carolyn Gibbons is one of our dear friends in the sewing community whose daughter-in-law, Jennifer, had a double mastectomy. Due to the mastectomy, Jennifer found driving to be a greater difficulty than she might have anticipated as wearing the seatbelt was very uncomfortable. Wanting to ease Jennifer's discomfort, Carolyn went to work looking for a solution.
Jennifer, Carolyn, and the Carolina Pine Quilters started to make seatbelt cushions to donate to women beginning their breast reconstruction journeys. They reached to ByAnnie for help, asking to use Soft and Stable™ for their donations. Inspired by their work and with their permission, our ByAnnie team sat down to develop an official pattern for similar cushions and the Bosom Buddy pattern was born!
Jennifer made the decision to get a double mastectomy after she learned that she carried the mutated BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, genes that increase the chances of developing breast or ovarian cancer by more than 80%. We are happy to share that after 24 months her surgeries are now done. Jennifer has shared her experience in a blog post that will be featured on her doctor's website. She has also allowed us to post it here!
We have had so much fun this month, both making our own projects and seeing the projects of others! Thank you, Carolyn and Jennifer, for sharing with us and for allowing us to join your cause.
